THE COST OF FREESAT.
THE COST OF FREESAT.
So much smoke and mirrors is being spread about the upcoming new Freesat from the BBC/ITV by certain priviliged position forums the new Freesat joint venture is already being mauled even before it is in the public domain.
One website was asked by the BBC for their opinion before the start of the planned venture and we satellite enthusiasts now know it was like asking the fox to look after the chickens as the fox is only interested in one provider and it is not Freesat from the BBC/ITV.

To receive Freesat and the complete metadata all in one package
you must buy Freesat equipment. At this time there is no way
possible to receive the complete Freesat programmes and data
except through a Freesat box.
Soon there will be Freesat receivers with PVR capability but this is still being developed.
Soon there will be Freesat equipped TV's.
Some time before the complete digital switchover there will also
be multimedia facility's which include; games, voting, etc..

INTERNET FORUM BULLY MENTALITY.
Have you ever been bullied or have your post deleted on a forum for no reason ? Most people have at some time or other on the internet been a target for deliberate bile from someone who for no visible reason decides they hate you and hate all you stand for.
Over the past few weeks this website amongst others has been vilified by certain individuals within two different forums and the amusing thing is we know if these individuals were confronted face to face with one particular member of our team their heads would be removed from their shoulders. We know these people are sad! We know these people are lonely! We know these people are like Bart Simpson and are desperate for attention, so we copied this from our growing forum to remind certain individuals, to "crawl back under your stones".
Perhaps you know someone who fills this bill or perhaps you can associate;
There seems to be on each forum a hierarchy of forum writers, forum critics, forum judges, forum jury's, forum sheep, forum lurkers, forum idiots,forum spoilers, forum know it alls, forum bully's, forum mobs, forum gangs, forum frustrater, forum top-dog.
In no particular order there seems to be an internet equalization controlled by what is commonly known as the "Nerds", the difference with the internet "Nerd" from the school playground "Nerd" or "education swot", is the Internet "Nerd" always comes across as, "a know it all", or "you cannot tell me anything because I know the answer even before you have thought about it", but even if you are wrong, "I'm always right anyway".
I would class this person as the "top-dog", and totally famous in their own mind.
The good forum writers have absolutely no chance of writing a sensible thread as there is always someone like the "forum mob", ready to poison his efforts simply because he has only one or two posts, the forum mob could also be classed as "forum sheep".
The "forum critic", is the forum member who believes nothing from anybody because he or she has never seen, touched or tasted the subject in question.
The "forum jury", are the hanging team, ready to hang anyone who has picked up wrong information in error and posted it thinking it was true, the "forum jury" are usually made up of some from the whole spectrum of "forum members".
The "forum sheep" are these members who back up their buddy from last month because they had given them a nice word in one of their threads and they also remember that the member has a thousand posts more than themselves.
The "forum lurker", is the member who posts who he is but tells whopping lies and after their initial post only comes into threads if he or she can remain invisible.
The "forum gangs", now these are the lowest of the low, are all scumbags and don't care who knows it. They will surf from website to website in droves playing bully boy tactics whenever or to whoever they can. The "forum gangs", own the internet but like all bullies single confrontation is not for them.
The "forum idiot", is the poster who continually high-jacks posts totally oblivious they have done so, nobody takes them seriously and they would never be missed even if they got run over by a bus, the "forum idiot", is not an idiot but a good person trying to fit in, but the "forum gangs" make short work of the "forum idiot", and do everything to get them banned.
The "forum spoilers", are those members who love to bring everything down and the forums are no different, and to make things worse the "forum Spoilers" are sitting in every forum waiting, just waiting for their chance to have a spoil, the "forum spoiler", could also be classed as the "forum frustrater", who hassles, hassles and hassles everybody.
*********
At last we come to the genuine; "forum writers", the cream of the forums who makes the forums interesting to visitors or surfers passing by. The genuine "forum writer has no malice or ill intent on anybody irrespective of the mud throwing or the insults flying. All forums need genuine "forum writers", even if they are not 100% positive of their facts, at least they try and be nice, as we all know it is; "nice to be nice".
*********
Finally on this thread; a true story which tells it all.
My brother is a member of "Service Pals" forum, and has been for years. On the forums he was being regularly got at and hassled by one particular member.
"Service Pals" members decided they were going to have an annual dinner and meet-up, and listed for the meet-up was my brothers hassler. He of course joined the list intent on confrontation with the hassler at the meeting.
His comments to me when he returned was; the little sh?t sat in a corner ignored by all and talking with nobody. The point is your hassler you know is a sh?t but he may also be a little lonely with no other means of expression. Would you really go out of your way to step on a little sh?t ?

GRUNDIG GUFSAT 01 HD DIGITAL BOX REVIEW WORLD EXCLUSIVE.
GRUNDIG GUFSAT 01 HD DIGITAL BOX REVIEW.
29TH April 2008.
We were happy to do this review on the Grundig Gufsat 01 HD box. The Grundig Gufsat 01 HD receiver is quality in a small package
which shows the first time you see it. The Grundig Gufsat 01 HD receiver is unlike conventional satellite receivers as it is small, compact
with loads of common sense features which are very unlikely to confuse even the first time buyers amongst us. The whole process from
start to finish was so simple for us we left the book and quick start up guide unopened. For buyers using the box for the first time is
likely to say something like; "well! that was easy! All information takes you step by step through the set up from start to finish. At no
point could you get confused, and this has obviously been deliberate by the Grundig Gufsat 01 HD digital box manufacturer.
The biggest issue is the Postcode entry for your own region (we did not try leaving this blank, and we did not try putting in another
U.K. region. People with less dexterity will have problems here and we were quite surprised there was not a list to choose from, perhaps
a thought to the manufacturer for future updates. Once you get past this point the box is really self setting, self updating, leave the choice
on auto-updating and never need to go back into that section, Done! and Dusted! So very, very easy.
A play about with the Freesat HD digital box remote lets you know exactly that it is NOT DESIGNED for those with technical ability.
In the case of the Grundig Gufsat 01 HD remote everything is simple and straightforward.
The whole idea that a child could operate it is 100% spot on. Well thought out menu selections make the remote control easy for
everyone and with the whole guide visible on screen nothing could be simpler.
We especially like the channels button which when pressed list on screen all channels vertically from there clicking on the up or down
arrows you can make your channel choice. There is functionality for favourites.
We were very impressed with the AD button which takes you into the "Audio Narration", section which is absolutely brilliant.
To explain;
when you use the HDMI socket you can zip through the channel choices and get amazed at the superb Grundig Gufsat 01 HD box
performing the upscale features add this to your Audio Narration feature and you have a winner.
As we tested the Grundig Gufsat 01 HD digital box on a SAMSUNG PLASMA SCREEN, a PHILIPS PLASMA SCREEN and an
DMTECH LCD SCREEN not a flaw could be seen, even very old programming got upscaled to look like existing TV pictures.
The Grundig Gufsat 01 HD digital box shows a light (blue) when it is off and no light when it is on (different!), but we assume that
great thought has went into the manufacture of these new satellite receivers simply because of the 12 volt power supply which is
dropped from the source using the power adapter supplied.
The Grundig Gufsat 01 HD runs cold and so does the power adapter which we feel is superb as most power adapters tend to
get some heat. The Grundig Gufsat 01 HD was sitting on top of a very old hot video case for hours and it still ran cold.
You have only to play with the Grundig Gufsat 01 HD digital box for a few hours and you know your onto a winner.
Conclusion;
A great buy!
The picture quality and the ease of using the Grundig Gufsat 01 HD digital receiver makes it a winner for your Mum if she
is contemplating getting satellite TV. The set-up is childs play and the receiver looks after itself with auto updates.
Those with an HD TV can set their viewing to using the HDMI connection and with the help of the upscaling they will
hardly notice as and when HD gets delivered to all channels. Those still wondering about the need to buy an HD TV will
wonder no longer when they view the Grundig Gufsat 01 HD digital box delivered pictures.
We think the set-up and forget features is more than helpful to those partially sited and disabled individuals as well
as those Senior Citizens who struggle with todays fast paced electrical gadgets.

As we reported in an earlier snippet we did not like the idea of releasing clear external graphics of the Freesat receivers.
This small graphic shows the inside of the Grundig Gufsat HD digital box for the technically minded.
We are fully aware this will invalidate our warranty so do not try this at home as there is a strong risk of electrical shock.

FREESAT SCRAMBLED ? OR ENCRYPTED ?
FREESAT SCRAMBLED ? OR ENCRYPTED ?
The simple answer to this is yes!
We read everywhere it is free-to-air! so lets define this encryption or scrambled theme.
For those Sky subscribers who insist on being able to see all of the Freesat data
this is untrue. For those Sky subscribers who say they can see all the channels that
Freesat will transmit is also incorrect as many Sky subscribers are still using
non-HD boxes so therefore will be unable to watch HD channels in HD from Freesat
never mind Sky.
Simple horizon to horizon satellite receivers with no HD compatibility obviously
cannot see HD transmissions either.
In other words if there is a box that cannot get FULL Freesat pictures and data
it must be classed as soft encrypted, and soft encrypted like no other box. As
the Freesat box is auto update this soft encryption may well be a factor built
into the Freesat receivers and future Freesat TV software.
Lets define further;
we are sorry to keep bringing this up, but the BBC research and inovation have
taken the trouble to design architecture within the Freesat boxes which will make
the Metadata invisible to ALL BOXES except Freesat boxes, is this not partial
encryption ? either way we now know the demand for something nobody could
see and that was the EPG from inside the Freesat box, did we mention nobody
could see the EPG with a Sky box or any other satellite receiver including the
very latest HD free-to-air receiver.
The moral;
anybody wishing to receive the NEW Freesat digital channels will need an
OFFICIAL LOGO'd Freesat receiver, this assures the customer and viewer
that the Freesat receiver conforms to the stringent tests made by DTG.

FREESAT AND FREEVIEW IN THE U.K.
This is an open "E" mail reply to mr. Smith;
we feel this "E" mail will explain some of the doubts in the Freesat project.
Hello xxxxx,
thank you for your "E"mail,
Domain-Holdings/Aberdeen Website Design are totally committed to our family orientated websites which cover many different subjects from our famous in our area the childrens football team Middlefield Wasps which is backed and supported by the mighty Dresser-Rand and many more very important company's and parents.
It would not be in our best interest to guide these members and followers of the Freesat project in the wrong direction as they all look to our updates and little snippets to keep themselves aware of what is actually happening.
The Freesat subject has been openly discussed off the Internet with many people in our area and our advice is targeted at the less well off than ourselves and of course the senior citizens and the disabled.
We all know that by 2012 the complete switch to a different TV system will need careful handling to those who are not so technically minded and we all know that the new Freesat system will enhance the Freeview to add many hundreds of free channels onto both platforms and all for free. We have no doubt sometime in the future pay-per-game/view/or programme may come out, but very unlikely before 2011 which is the expected timetable for BT to complete their project of updating their complete internet system.
We understand that because we ourselves are so familiar with satellite orientated set ups and equipment there may have been times we have either confused the unfamiliar satellite enthusiast or we have ploughed on regardless explaining points further that we had either altered or written in a different part of our blog or forum.
The unusual marketing of Freesat cannot be blamed on the BBC as some are spouting as their hands are tied with regards to not interfering with already in place TV company's, but we can all be confident in the knowledge they are the best company in dealing with our license fee, so we can be sure of expert and professional ability.
As Freesat and Freeview will be the U.K.'s future medium with HD and multimedia projects the U.K. will be the TV beacon the rest of the World will look to for expertise and certainly green satellite receivers of which we know the new Humax Foxsat is less than 1w in standby mode - excellent!
We hope you continue checking out our various Freesat websites for updates and new Freesat boxes and equipment for stories and snippets of what we know is happening.
Thank you once again for your "E" mail.
with respect and regards;

GRUNDIG GUFSAT01HD PERIPHERAL CONNECTIONS.
GRUNDIG GUFSAT01HD HD FREESAT RECEIVER, for those of you who remember or for those of you who have deliberately forgotten we told you this name on the 8th of April 2008 on our blog here.
Looking at the rear of the Grundig Gufsat01HD looking from left to right we have;
LNB IN / LNB OUT / SPDIF / HDMI / ETHERNET / SCART / ^RS232 / SCART / 12V CONNECTION POINT.
The lnb in/out should give a nice loop through/ either Sky or Freeview or ?
Ethernet although idle at present wait until BT sort out their broadband, for top class multimedia exposure.
Scart can be used for lots of different connections from Audio/Video, games, auto switches etc...
RS232 connection for engineer, computer, manual updates etc...
12v connection very power aware, excellent!
The other reminder to those who felt it necessary to castagate the HUMAX FOXSAT name as well as the GRUNDIG GUFSAT now know we told the truth!
It's nice to know the Freesat box is auto update and auto set-up which will help all of our partially sited and those who find working with small buttons a problem.
Please note; although we may have a Freesat box already, we feel it is not in the interest of the BBC/ITV to release sharp non-public recognizeable graphics before the minor bugs are ironed out which will be on the official release date.

BBC MULTIMEDIA FREESAT FUTURE ?
BBC MULTIMEDIA ?
Hybrid set-top-boxes, which allow access to both broadcast and broadband delivered content, are beginning to emerge onto the market. However these tend to offer access to one or the other delivery route at any point in time, resulting in a disjointed viewer experience.
Technology conceived by BBC Research and Innovation allows broadband and broadcasting delivered content to be simultaeously presented as part of a single hybrid service, resulting in a seamless viewer experience.
This maximises the ability to retain the audience as they navigate between the two areas.
The application for internet delivered content range from low data rate features such as Voting and personalised pages of BBCi through to demanding offerings such as supporting Video On Demand for iPlayer.
The BBC can offer truly interactive services, where the viewer can connect both with the broadcaster and with other viewers.

NEW PAY TV CHANNELS.
NEW PAY TV CHANNELS!
United Kingdom is about to venture into new era of television greatness with free television from both Freesat and Freeview. While this venture proceeds Ofcom are considering a request from NGW and SKY.
National Grid and Wireless(NGW) and British Sky Broadcasting(SKY) have applied to remove the three free-to-air channels that Sky currently provides on the Digital Terrestrial Television(DTT) platform and replace them with five(5) PAY TV channels.
Sky currently provides Sky News, Sky Sports News and Sky Three on a free-to-air basis.
NGW and SKY wish to replace these with PAY TV Sky Sports 1, PAY TV Sky Movies in the evening and the remainder of the PAY TV capacity would be used by Sky to retail two further PAY TV channels from third party providers in the daytime made up of a factual channel and a children's channel. Sky's proposed PAY TV service would NOT be compatible with any existing set-top-box.
Viewers would then need another NEW set-top-box to receive these PAY TV channels.
Ofcom will release their decision this year.

FREESAT DOES NOT MEAN FREE TO VIEW FOR SKY BOX OWNERS.
Sky box owners can expect NO TRUE FREESAT METADATA.
Transmission of the Freesat signal although shared by two platforms these being Freesat and Sky. Two different sets of channel information will be carried in the same transmission. Please note the suggestion TWO DIFFERENT SETS.
Freesat metadata will only be seen by an official Freesat digital box or TV with a Freesat digital tuner built in. Neither Sky or ANY other satellite receiver will see this metadata.
It is important to note that Free-to-view does not equate to no encryption, but it should be noted that there will be two sets of metadata being transmitted on the same transmission.
Freesat! repeat, Freesat metadata includes the information needed to display program names (can you see Sky advertising free for Freesat tv?), times, description, subtitles,audio description, (audio narration), interactive elements, artistic style for both channels and programmes, guidance information for each programme which enables the Freesat receiver to display a warning of the level of violence, bad language or sex which allows the user to restrict viewing of certain programmes.
Content management which controls copying and export of content.
Regional information to allow viewers in different areas the choice of their regional variant.
We have released this information to answer many enquiries from home and abroad.

HAUPPAUGE CARDS NOT SUITABLE FOR FREESAT.
*****IMPORTANT*****
For those familiar with PC cards to watch TV this may well be a surprise to you. One of the favourite PC cards is made by Hauppauge and Hauppauge released information to say that their Nova-S USB 2 box would be able to show the new Freesat programmes with the aid of additional software.
Freesat reacted by saying that the Hauppauge USB 2 is not Freesat licensed and therefore will not receive the Freesat services.
This statement from Freesat opens up a whole new bundle of questions with respect to all satellite receivers being able to receive the Freesat data feeds.
Any satellite enthusiast will know and be familiar with Hauppauge TV cards knowing they are excellent products and long lasting and these cards are more than capable of picking up free-to-air channels all over the satellite spectrum from East to West on all satellites.
With the statement from Freesat that these cards will NOT be able to receive the Freesat data then there is little chance any other satellite receiver available will be able to receive the Freesat data.
We have stated from day 1 of these reports that buyers of the Freesat boxes must make sure they are official boxes with the Freesat logo on them and we again repeat the BBC research and innovation team have developed special architecture within the Freesat boxes.

BBC AND ITV FREESAT GET SLATED.
BBC and ITV Freesat are getting continually slated day in day out even although the BBC/ITV venture has never been released into the public domain. The shocking judgemental comments about something nobody has seen yet is quite amazing.
Every person who cares about television in the United Kingdom knows that the BBC and ITV have the best programming schedules with a convenient child/adult watershed at 9.00 pm, this will of course continue with the joint venture from the BBC and ITV Freesat.
The quality of the programming will not change either, in fact it will dramatically improve with the addition of HD or high definition.
It now brings in the questions; who are going to gain from continually running down our national TV every chance they get ? why would anybody run down a product or item even before it was on the market ? apart from a foreign power then you have to suggest a competitor!
How anyone can blacken the reputation of our national television BEFORE they start to broadcast makes no logical sense and is beyond our comprehension.
Free TV made up of existing Freeview and Freesat which will amount to hundreds of free to air channels, what this means to United Kingdom viewers is there will be NO MORE contracts, NO MORE monthly fees, NO MORE annual rises, NO MORE 1 hour programmes made up of 25 minute adverts, NO MORE hassle about telephone linkage.
Balanced comments welcome either here or in our FORUM.

FREESAT HD DIGITAL ? WHAT DOES FREESAT HD DIGITAL MEAN TO THE UNITED KINGDOM ?
FREESAT HD DIGITAL ? WHAT DOES FREESAT HD DIGITAL MEAN TO THE UNITED KINGDOM ?
Freesat in the United Kingdom is the foundations of the biggest turnaround in British TV history and the spotlight will be on the United Kingdom from around the World to monitor exactly how much of a success the new free tv will be.
Let's look at the whole spectrum with a critical eye;
United Kingdom has what we consider the very best quality TV in the World in BBC and ITV , Drama, Comedy, Sport, News(the best), and because the BBC are accountable we know where every penny of our licence fee is spent. Adverts on channels like ITV have been running for years and they have got it just about right, although at times the adverts are a bind and the time should be cut just a little.
All films we know will eventually appear on one of the channels at some time or other and the time scale is unimportant to most viewers as the TV is only a simple multimedia system. Desperate viewers who want to see up to the minute films can go to their local cinema or hire a video or join a video membership on the internet and again save themselves a small fortune.
BBC have announced a minimum of 80 channels with at least 8 of the channels being HD or high definition, this channel list is sure to swell as more channel providers recognize the long term benefits.
With the digital timetable in the United Kingdom being 2012 for terrestrial TV changeover then Freesat will automatically be the NEW United Kingdom television medium for all the usual soaps, Sport, comedies, News, etc...
What this means to United Kingdom viewers is; those with good quality Freeview will also have Freesat which will amount to hundreds of Free channels after the initial equipment purchase of anything from £50 to £150 plus the cost of equipment erection if you do not already have a satellite dish in place, if you have a dish already in place, including a Sky TV dish then you do not have the cost of erection.
We forecast high sales of the Freesat HD digital box and may even outsell expected sales take up.

GRUNDIG GUFSATHD DIGITAL BOX.
As we reported on April the 8th 2008 the new GRUNDIG GUFSATHD would soon be with us. The receiver has been given that specific name for technical reasons.
Like ALL Official Freesat basic (approx.£50) or Official Freesat HD (approx. £150) receivers none of them will have a card slot or cam slot built in when first released.
The graphic is of the GRUNDIG GUFSATHD FREESAT DIGITAL BOX but the basic GRUNDIG GUFSAT FREESAT BOX IS exactly the same apart from the specifications inside.
More information regarding this FREESAT TV Box will be released soon on our GUFSAT Website.

PANASONIC PZ81 WILL HAVE FREESAT INSTALLED.
PANASONIC PZ81 WILL HAVE FREESAT INSTALLED.
Panasonic PZ81 will be released within the next three months with Freesat and Freeview built in.
Many rumours abound that Panasonic will only have one tuner but we know it will have two.
Panasonic are known to also be testing another PZ entry and information will be released in due course.
WE have opened up a free speech board for debate as many "E" mails we have been receiving have complained about websites continually removing their posts and Freesat TV fresh information.
The new board is http://www.multimediaforum.co.uk will be brought up to date as soon as possible to account for the likely possibility of Freesat going live very soon.

FREESAT AND SKY.
Freesat and Sky is another hot question put to us because of so much rumours about Freesat HD digital boxes.
Here is the answer we have given out to hundreds of you;
Yes you can have both Freesat and any other satellite provider as long as you have the correct equipment. The obvious one is those with Sky and who chose their multiroom package automatically received a quad LNB fitted to their satellite dish. The quad LNB is exactly that, and you can run four connections from it which in many cases with multiroom has an empty connection on the LNB which you can use to connect your FReesat connection. You can also use a piece of hardware called an AB switch either manual or auto, the AB switch costs about £6 and it is used by connecting both your Sky coax cable and your NEW Freesat coax cable, the third connection point in the AB switch comes from the satellite dish. If you press the Freesat remote the AB auto switch takes over and allows free access to your Freesat box and when you press your Sky remote again the AB switch takes over and you get full access to the Sky platform, switch one of the Receivers off and the AB switch takes over and allows access to your chosen receiver you have left on.
Another less well known method is to use a loop through and this works very well, and can save you a lot of expense, and here is how it works.
For this method we assume you have either a multi-sat system or a standalone free to air satellite receiver with two LNB connection points namely, LNB In and Loop.
The loop is used for all sorts of hardware and can avoid problems with cross modulation, poor sound etc..
Simply cut a length of coax cable long enough with a little extra to connect it without kinks or hard bends..attach on both ends an f-connector, one goes into the LNB IN point in the back of your NEW Freesat box and one goes into your stand alone satellite receiver which has two possible F-connections either screw on or slip on (you can buy slip on connectors which are much easier to work with in tight corners). Using the stand alone as the master, ie; use the loop in it to piggy back onto the signal coming down from the satellite dish into your NEW Freesat HD digital box.
So your set-up should be: Satellite dish...>LNB...>Stand alone satellite receiver...>NEW Freesat HD digital box...>HD TV set.
This set-up will allow you to still use and get HD through your NEW Freesat HD digital box as the satellite stand alone is only a loop through but obviously it will not upscale or make any difference to your stand alone satellite receiver unless of course it is already an HD receiver. You make sure your stand alone satellite receiver is on standby while using the Freesat box. To use the "stand alone", satellite receiver switch off or to standby on your Freesat receiver.
To help you further we have made a full tutorial for both motorised and single position satellite dishes, but as we always say if after reading this a couple of times you feel it maybe too awkward or difficult, ask your local arial installer to erect it for you and it is very wise to go for a fully fledged professional with the CAI qualifications.
Is it news to you? Then you read it here first!

FREESAT IN SPAIN.
FREESAT IN SPAIN.
Freesat in Spain is the number one question over the last three days so we hope this will help.
The BBC have already stated a 60 cms dish will cover the united kingdom.
This must have raised a few eyebrows within those who are knowledgeable about satellite systems and satellite receivers.
There are places in the United Kingdom and Ireland that nothing less than an 80cms dish will suffice, in fact 1 mtre and 1.2+ mtre dish sizes are quite popular among the multi-sat hobbiest or enthusiast in the U.K.
Freesat HD digital TV is meant for U.K., and it's obvious those living away from home like to see what is happening there and Sky, Freesat or whatever is an ideal viewing medium, so the 60cm dish size comes as no surprise.
Those living in U.K. from other countries do exactly what British ex-pats do and get a satellite system that will allow them a little bit of home. Although usually it will bring your local authorities coming crashing down on you because of silly dish sizes those wishing to view 4 degrees West in U.K. will need a minimum dish size of 2.5 mtres.
The same will apply to most of Europe, be it Spain, Portugal, etc..the same will always apply; ie;
the bigger the dish the more signal you collect.
the lower the noise figure of the LNB (low noise block points to the centre of your dish) the better. LNB ideal noise figure is; .02; that reads point zero two.
Many will tell you .04 is not much different, but believe me it makes a huge difference if you are on the fringe of a signal.
Freesat signals are looking more and more likely to be spot beamed,( the 60cm dish size is a give away) any ex-pats wishing to get Freesat should make sure of the following;
Make sure if they are in Europe (anywhere) they are allowed to put up big dish sizes.(no point in buying to be told later it's a no-no).
Make sure they have an ideal .02 LNB.(see above)
Make sure they have an official Freesat box (data stream in official boxes only so ideal TV guides whats on and interactivity features.)
Sky boxes are already on the continent so there is no reason why Freesat boxes will not get there also.
The good pointers about Freesat;
Stating the obvious; it is totally free after the initial purchase.
Strong signals are used for high definition (HD).
We hope ex-pats all over Europe will be able to get Freesat, we know simply by watching the BBC HD channel which is already on satellite that the quality is 100% superb.
To view the BBC HD channel will soon be a matter of course for Freesat viewers. You only have to watch the stunning "Planet Earth", to truly appreciate high definition television.

MULTIMEDIA AUDIO NARRATION ON FREESAT.
MULTIMEDIA AUDIO NARRATION ON HUMAX FOXSAT FREESAT HD RECEIVER.
Multimedia audio narration on the NEW Humax Foxsat Freesat HD Receiver sends a terrific message to all HD future viewers that possible full multimedia is on it's way.
It has long been a major concern that blind or partially sighted living alone need partners or housekeepers for lots of everyday tasks we take for granted, but with the Audio Narration present in the NEW Freesat box it will make all these nature and documentary programmes spring to life without the need for an in house live in narrator.
The BBC HD channel which has been free to air testing since last year has been testing the Audio Narration and also testing their superb HD sound quality.
The sound quality is spectacular with no echo or sibilance, clear as a bell springs to mind with no time lag.
In case some of you missed it; there is also the presence of an Ethernet connection which brings to the fore a small possibility in the future of multimedia for all things including the BBC's special catch up software which can be used via the computer to catch up on that missed soap, comedy, drama, or sport presentation.
Freesat boxes will also have present Content Management which is the industry name to control exporting and copying of content.
Freesat boxes will also carry regional variations to make sure viewers in different regions receive regional variations of each programme.
Congratulation must go to the BBC innovations dept. and others for the NEW Audio Narration which will open up a whole new World for those amongst us who are blind or partially sighted.

HUMAX FOXSAT AUDIO NARRATION MULTIMEDIA NEWS.
W3C, CSS, U.S. Federal Standard 508 and WAI fly high on Freesat websites with new multimedia news.
Freesat HD digital TV is important to the United Kingdom citizens and ex-pats we feel it is the perfect platform for the W3C initiative.
The Audio Narration in the NEW Humax FOXSAT is a perfect example of the future of multimedia and realistically is multimedia news.
What is W3C ?
W3C, CSS, U.S. Federal Standard 508 and WAI or all different levels of Webmaster techniques for different types of software and firmware used by web surfers who may be blind, partially sighted or disabled.
The more positive the efforts made by webmasters the better the chance the web will open up for everybody.
Some websites will never be perfect and others awful, which to a search engine or certain software makes very little difference as the code advised by W3C is 100% perfect, and it is this perfect code webmasters must all make an effort to pass.
Many countries now make it illegal for websites NOT to be validated which would make many websites in the U.K. also illegal as many come nowhere near the legal requirement of "THE DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION ACT".
Many websites you visit will NOT have the W3C accessibility compliance on it as many webmasters are either too lazy or they have a vague notion they know better than Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director and inventor of the World Wide Web.
We all know or know of someone who is either blind or partially blind who like to use the internet in their otherwise boring and frustrating lives. It is our duty to attempt to make our websites accessible for these people as we ourselves may fill their shoes.
The website does not need bells, whistles, fancy banners, in fact it can be the worst website on the net as long as it passes the automated requirements of the W3C, or CSS, or U.S. Federal Standard 508, or Cynthia tested, at least you can be sure you are making an effort by submitting your website to the legal requirements of the "DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION ACT" and not ignoring the legal requirements.
You will find all of our websites THAT WE MAKE will pass the automatic accessibility validation required by law to acknowledge the "DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION ACT".
For the webmasters reading this who care about our blind and partially blind they can visit the w3c.org website where you will find comprehensive tutorials for making your website properly accessible for the legal requirement of the "DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION ACT".

Sky prices continue to rise and it is well past the time Sky really must review their prices and review them quickly. Sky packages are only what Sky want as individuals choosing their own choices would cause total chaos. W3C FREESAT WEBSITES.
THE IMPORTANCE OF W3C AND FREESAT WEBSITES AND ALL OTHER WEBSITES.
W3C.org are the gaurdians of the internet. It is they who suggest to all webmaster rules and regulations governing good webpages for the benefit of all to be able to surf the internet.
All webmasters will be interested to know many websites come nowhere near the LEGAL requirements of the "DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION ACT", this fact has been released in 2008 by a well known accessibility specialist adding that leading retailers are failing their customers with websites that just are not up to scratch.
The compliance standard set out by w3c.org encompasses W3C, CSS, U.S. Federal standard 508, and the complete Cynthia website testing standard WAI 1,2,3.
Websites do not need to be flashy or fancy, they need to be accessible for all types of machines used by the blind and the disabled to surf the internet, if the websites surfed do not pass certain criteria the machines used by some of the blind and disabled cannot read the website, colours and pretty pictures do not matter to someone who is blind.
If you look to your right on the blog here you will find a list of Freesat websites and ALL websites are user friendly for all surfers as every website should be whether they be blind, disabled or able bodied.
To all these armchair critics who slate or openly insult websites; we say please think ahead as we do as we are a FAMILY ORIENTATED WEBTEAM trying to make the web accessible for all.
****************
On the subject of Freesat and Sky and answering a few questions we are battered with;
Sky TV and using the Sky box; some Freesat channels are at present being transmitted through the Sky box and to get these Freesat channels you need to go into these Extra channels via your remote, THERE IS NO WAY OF PUTTING THESE TO MEMORY unless Sky relent and update or flash their boxes but we feel they will not be allowed to do this.
As more and more channels either move or go onto Freesat (ie; channel 4&5 for example) the Sky box user will get very weary going into the Extra channels day in and day out looking for their favourite soaps etc..
The Freesat box will carry an Electronic Program Guide (EPG) or simply a TV schedule for the next or next week. The same data will NOT be transmitted from the Sky box.
At the latest guestamation over 200 channels and lots of them HD will be housed for free on Freesat.

MHEG provides an interchange format for multimedia and hypermedia information and its machine independent encoding for real time multimedia applications, synchronization and interchange of applications. This includes temporal and spatial relationships between monomedia objects and user interaction mechanisms. MHEG is also a container and description format for each kind of monomedia data;
example; bitmaps, text, video, audio.
Interoperability and reusability is one of the key issues for the success of digital and interactive television systems.
