JAMES JANNARD RED CAMERAS.

James Jannard may be a new name to most but very soon the name will be better known outside the U.S.A. A 56 year old family man with four children who lives in San Juan Washington State.
James Jannard is the man behind the famous glasses frames we all know as Oakley and relatively unknown outside of the U.S. Some pairs of the Thump sunglasses for example have over 125 parts in them made up with the MP3 ability. He also founded a company in 2005 called Red.
What is Red ?
Red is a company who amazingly offer a 4k digital video camera which means the video is shot at 4,000 lines and not the 1,080 from HD(high definition) at present.
Many film directors are jumping on the Red bandwagon as the return video is miles in front of anything else. Who knows maybe an a couple of years HD may have to move over for Red technology.
The U.S. are already selling these new types of the Red technology in the shape of a 3k camera (called Scarlet), a 4k camera and a 5k camera.
The price needs to come down a lot unless you are keen, the Scarlet (3k) comes in at around $3,000 in the U.S.

COMPARE FREE TV TO SUBSCRIPTION TELEVISION.

COMPARE FREE TV TO SUBSCRIPTION TELEVISION.

COMPARE FREE TV TO SUBSCRIPTION TELEVISION and view at a glance the true cost of digital TV.

SKY, VIRGIN MEDIA, FREEVIEW AND FREESAT are saturating British Television with all sorts of programming from Childrens programmes to Adult programmes.
While deciding which TV subscription to go for consider all the new type viewing and future TV set you will buy. Many new viewers are going for the latest "all singing, all dancing" TV sets which compliment their chosen type of viewing.
FREEVIEW;
In U.K. there is an estimated 9.6 million Freeview boxes and an estimated 73% of U.K. can view it, many of course get very bad reception which is forcing them to think again about the type of viewing which will let them see all available channels.
U.K. viewers can buy a Freeview box and those in good reception area's already know the benefit of a Freeview box for as little as £20 with no ongoing fee except their TV licence.
Main benefits of Freeview : no ugly satellite dish, no ongoing monthly suscription, programmes cater for all ages.

VIRGIN MEDIA;
In U.K. there is an estimated 3.0 million Virgin Media viewers and it is possible for more than 50% of U.K. viewers to receive it. The basic Virgin Media package can start at around £11 but can climb to an astronomical £120 plus per month. On top of this fee you will also have your TV licence fee.
Main benefits of Virgin Media : no need for ugly satellite dish.

SKY;
In U.K. there is an estimated 8.89 million and the reach is estimated at 98% of U.K. viewers who can receive it. The basic Sky package can be bought for £16 a month. On top of your chosen monthly subscripion you will still have to pay your licence fee.
Main benefit of Sky TV : for those who can afford the different packages come a wide choice of programmes.

FREESAT;
As a completely new TV platform freesat has not released official information figures so we have taken these figures from official sources.
In U.K. there is an estimated 492,000 viewers who watch the freesat from Sky version. It is suggested that once the free channels migrate to freesat from Sky and the addition of other freesat channels we could see a mass exodus over to freesat.
With a 98% U.K. viewing coverage exactly the same as Sky then most viewers will be able to view it. The basic freesat set top box will cost approx. £50 with no ongoing subscriptions. On top of this you will still have your TV licence fee.
Main benefits of freesat ; Multimedia future proofed which no other system has, no ongoing subscription fees, top quality HD channels for free.

Conclusion; Although the names suggest Freeview and freesat are free this is not the case as we all still have to find a licence fee. For those with excellent reception with Freeview are the luckiest viewers in the U.K.
Sky TV is seen as a company who revolutionized viewers experience in the U.K. and in return the U.K. viewer has for years suffered the greed of big business in the form of escalatory monthly subscriptions and a hate for adverts which they believe they have paid for with their subscriptions.
Virgin Media similar to Sky TV which although has 3.0 million subscribers the cost is formidable.
freesat! freesat is the future; with multimedia ability which no other satellite receiver mentioned here has, add to this no ongoing fees to watch the exact same programming and you have to consider this;; free channels already on the Sky platform which subscribers are paying for will soon be on freesat and cost nothing.

BEIJING OLYMPICS UNCOVERS INDIA'S JEWEL IN THE CROWN.

BEIJING OLYMPICS UNCOVERS INDIA'S JEWEL IN THE CROWN.

बेजिंग ओलंपिक में ढूँढता है भारत के ज्वेल का मुकुट है .

BEIJING OLYMPICS REVEALS INDIA'S JEWEL IN THE CROWN during the Olympic games from Beijing in the shape of India's first ever individual gold medalalist.
In a country which has an estimated; 1,130,000,000 people this is quite amazing and in a country which has always reflected indifference to the world Olympic sports arena.
India managed to get three medals in Beijing; in the 75kg boxing they won a bronze, and another bronze in the mens freestyle 66kg wrestling.
India's hero who will go down in history is Abhinav Bindra who won the gold medal in shooting in the men's 100m air rifle.
The gold medal has made Abhinav a household name in India and you can be sure many young Indians will be starting to train for the 2012 Olympics in London after Abhinav's perfect performance.
A country with so many people must have loads of untapped talent and it is all the more amazing that Abhinav Bindra was the first ever individual gold medalist.

Out of respect of India's Olympic Achievements we have translated the above comment.

BEIJING TAEKWONDO BLIND JUDGES.

BEIJING TAEKWONDO BLIND JUDGES.

BEIJING TAEKWONDO JUDGES are in bad need of glasses. Over the past few days it has already been echoed about the poor judgements being given in the Taekwondo arena.
In the graphics you will clearly see the GB Team member Sarah Stevenson being robbed of two points.
The first graphic shot shows the head strike, the second graphic shows the grimace of pain on the opponent and the third graphic clearly shows the extent of the force the opponent was hit.
The fourth graphic at the bottom shows one of the four judges viewing from a different angle as the head strike hits. Click on the graphics for a closer look.
The Taekwondo judges; ALL FOUR OF THEM never seen the hit resulting in a loss instead of a win for part of the GB Team.
Considering this is a Sport famed for respect and etiquette this is a disgrace.
UPDATE ON THIS REPORT;
IN AN AMAZING TURN AROUND SARAH STEVENSON HAS BEEN AWARDED THE EXPECTED TWO POINTS WHICH SHE SHOULD HAVE HAD TO BEGIN WITH. IT'S GOOD TO KNOW THAT SOMEONE WITH THE SENSE TO VIEW THE VIDEO HAS TAKEN THIS DECISION FOR THE BENEFIT OF SARAH STEVENSON AND THE WHOLE BRITISH TEAM NOT FORGETTING THE GOOD NAME OF TAEKWONDO. IT ALSO REINFORCES OUR BELIEF THAT THE BEIJING OLYMPIC TAEKWONDO TEAM OF JUDGES NEED TO TAKE A LOOK AT THEMSLVE'S AS THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE BRITISH TEAM HAVE BEEN PENALISED WRONGLY.

FURTHER UPDATE-

Sarah Stevenson finally earned herself the elusive Olympic taekwondo medal she has craved since her Games début as a teenager in Sydney eight years ago by winning the Bronze medal for Team GB the first medal in the sport. WELL DONE SARAH!

Communication Nation: UK consumers paying less but getting more

People in the UK are spending more time using communications services than ever before – but paying less for them, according to Ofcom’s latest annual report into the UK’s £51 billion communications industry.

Using more

The 365 page report shows that in 2007 we spent an average of 7 hours and 9 minutes a day using an array of communications services - up by 6 minutes from 2002. This includes watching television, surfing the net, using our mobiles, talking on a landline phone and listening to the radio.

Our mobile and internet use has increased by the greatest amount. Between 2002 and 2007 the time we spent talking and texting on our mobiles doubled, up from 5 minutes to 10 minutes each day. Meanwhile, time spent on PCs and lap-tops has grown fourfold between 2002 and 2007 - from 6 minutes to 24 minutes per person every day.

TEAM GREAT BRITAINS BEIJING OLYMPICS WORLD RECORDS 20th August 2008.

TEAM GREAT BRITAINS BEIJING OLYMPICS WORLD RECORDS 20th August 2008.

TEAM GREAT BRITAINS BEIJING OLYMPIC WORLD RECORDS will go into the record books as one of the best Olympic Games Great Britain has ever had and we still have four days to go.
Reverberations are already being voiced that Lottery funding is providing excellent training facilities, but surely the credit has to be directed at the new breed of record breaking athletes and their coaches we are fortunate to have.
The British Sporting Spirit has never been so strong and a big thanks for that must go to the excellent first class coverage we are receiving from our BBC. Six and sometimes seven screens plus BBC HD (for those fortunate enough to have either an HD receiver or any of the new freesat boxes; ie; Grundig Gufsat, Bush BFsat, Goodmans GF or the Humax Foxsat) we have never missed any of the action and we are viewing excellent value for our licence fee.
Beijing Olympics record breakers going into the history books from Team GB are;

TEAM GB SWIMMERS WINS SILVER AND BRONZE 10KM OPEN WATER.

TEAM GB SWIMMERS WINS SILVER AND BRONZE 10KM OPEN WATER.

Team GB swimmers must go down in history as being the greatest a bravest Open Water swimmers the world has ever seen.
Keri-Anne Payne (Silver) and Cassie Patten (Bronze) became the first British swimmers to win Olympic Games medals in the 10km open water race.

The Team GB swimmers were far too strong for the rest of the field in the early stages and led the race all the way up until the last 150 m of this race that was won by the current world record holder from Russia.

We will update this latest Olympic news story shortly.

BEIJING OLYMPICS U.S.A. MEDAL LIST 19th AUGUST 2008.

BEIJING OLYMPICS U.S.A. MEDAL LIST is very impressive to read with stunning results from the magnificent Michael Phelps picking up gold medals in everything connected with world class swimming. I am sure we will never see such a result again ever. When the great Mark Spitz picked up seven many thought that it would never be beaten but Michael Phelps knew different but I think this time this astounding record will never be beaten.
At this time the U.S.A. have succeded in amassing 26 gold, 26 silver and 27 bronze making a total of 79 medals.

北京奥林匹克中国奖牌名单。

BEIJING OLYMPICS CHINESE MEDAL LIST is amazing and checking over their medal winners many up and coming stars can be seen.
At this time the Chinese lead the games with their medal success's and like other countries they too have had many surprises with 43 gold, 14 silver and 19 bronze which amount to the staggering 76 medals.

OLYMPIC TEAM GB IN FANTASTIC FORM.

OLYMPIC TEAM GB IN FANTASTIC FORM.

BEIJING OLYMPIC TEAM GB WONDER WEEKEND and still seven days to go.
What a weekend for Team GB which is now showing in third spot overall in the list of medal positions and with still seven days to go it looks like Team GB still have the odd medal to come.
We reckoned there would be shocks and surprises and some have been real shocks but maybe not always to the participants.
GB's excellent shocker came in the form of a 19 year old superb athlete by the name of Louis Smith. Who would have thought that the eighty year old (yes; 80) record would be broken, because it has been that long since Great Britain has won anything in this section. His pommel horse routine was amazing and considering no GB athlete had won a medal for 80 years it shows the sort of ability this future star holds for the 2012 LOndon OLympics.
The final result was;
Gold - Xiao Qin - China
Silver - Filip Ude - Croatia
Bronze - Louis Smith - Great Britain
*******************************************
For me one of the top performances this weekend has come from Rebecca Romero who turned her sport on it's head by winning a silver medal in the last Olympics(Athens 2004) as part of Team GB in the rowing and exchanging the oars for a bicycle.
She realised her dream in winning the gold medal in the Ladies Pursuit Final in such easy fashion it was a joy to behold and her determination and relief at the finish could be seen in her reaction when she crossed the winning line.
As Rebecca says on her website;
You can but dream……but can you live your dream??
A shade unlucky for Team GB sister member Wendy Houvenaghel that she should be racing against her fellow Team member but her silver medal will always give her solace that she was against the best and the only woman in GB history to have won a medal in two different sports.
The final result was;
Gold - Rebecaa Romero - Great Britain
Silver - Wendy Houvenaghel - Great Britain
Bronze - Lesya Kalitovska - Ukrain

BEIJING OLYMPICS TV is being broadcast to millions all over the world, and just in case somebody has already missed it, this will probably the biggest TV audience figure of all time.
The graphic above is taken from one of the two Chinese TV channels showing full time Olympics and as you can see they too are interested in there own competitors.
We viewed today the huge effort made by Chris Hoy, Jamie Staff and Jason Kennie to win the Gold Medal for the U.K. so it should come as no surprise all nations will be concentrating on their own competitors and with nine days still to go we will see many shocks and surprises before they curtain comes down on the 24th August 2008.

CHRIS HOY AND TEAM GB TEAM SPRINT WINS GOLD.

CHRIS HOY AND TEAM GB TEAM SPRINT WINS GOLD.

Chris Hoy and his fellow British riders produced the goods to win in fantastic style beating the French team by a huge margin.

What an impressive Gymnast China's Yang Wei is, his display in the Men's All Round was stunning and he earned that well deserved Gold Medal spot.
Japan's Kohei Uchimura had tough luck on the Pommel Horse which dropped his points, Kohei's floor routine was excellent.
The U.K. representative did Britain proud and although finishing out of the medal positions was excellent on the Pommel Horse being best of all, "well done Daniel Keatings", considering this was his first Olympics.
The Pommel Horse has been a formidable piece of apparatus in the Olympics for many years so to be best in the world on it on the day speaks volumes for Daniels ability against the impressive World Champion Yang Wei.

BEIJING OLYMPICS MEDAL TABLE - 13th AUGUST 2008.

BEIJING OLYMPICS MEDAL TABLE FROM THE BBC as of day 5 of the Beijing Olympics with 11 days still to go.
As expected China and the USA dominate the tables with many surprises from other nations.
The whole world watches as American Michael Phelps the best Olympiad of all time shows superhuman achievements in swimming and with lots of heats still to go superhuman or superstar will have to shine through, we wish him the best of luck but somehow we don't think he will need it.

GRUNDIG GUFSAT01HD NEW REPORT LOOP THROUGH 12th AUGUST 2008.

GRUNDIG GUFSAT01HD NEW REPORT LOOP THROUGH 12th AUGUST 2008.

GRUNDIG GUFSAT01HD LOOP THROUGH IS ALIVE AND KICKING and our new tests have also revealed that this type of loop through system maybe unique to freesat set top boxes alone.
We tested the loop through using ONLY this time freesat receivers and we can report that the Grundig Gufsat01HD and then the Bush BFsat01HD can use ONE SINGLE coax cable from the LNB and both set top boxes can be switched on and SHOW DIFFERENT channels without any problems.
This augers well for those interested in using freesat in all rooms with one single coax cable, we now know it works.
Many have reported problems trying to use the loop through and initially the Grundig, Bush and Goodmans coped easily enough with most Sky receivers, we say most as some Sky receivers are using the same voltage whether they are switched on or switched off with no drop while in stand by and this may contribute to some Sky boxes being unable to be paired with freesat set top boxes. It's worth remembering at this point that the Humax Foxsat is a miser when it comes to electricity useage closely followed by the group; Grundig Gufsat, Bush BFsat and the Godmans GFsat all using the same.
We have been told that freesat loop through is intended for those who wish to use freesat in every room and using one single cable.
In our tests we used;
Grundig Gufsat01HD the Bush BFsat01HD and the Goodmans GFsat200HD there was no visible signal loss and you would never have known we were using a loop through, all can be switched on and all can view different channels as long as you use the same polarity; ie horizontal or vertical, if you use a different polarity from the master you get a blank screen but the blank screen does NOT stop the loop through to the next freesat box.
For those looking outside the box I have a PaceHD looped into a Humax Foxsat with no problems as long as one box is switched off while the other is switched on. I also tested the Humax Foxsat with a Samsung receiver loop through and the Humax Foxsat worked 100% with the Samsung remembering to switch one off while using the other.

Beijing Olympic Opening Ceremony 08-08-08

Beijing Olympic "Opening Ceremony"' 08-08-08 beautiful start to the XX1XX Olympiad will go down in history as a planning masterpiece.
Nations from all over the World tuned into watch the "Opening Ceremony". It's worth remembering over ten and a half thousand athletes are taking part and over twenty thousand news media ready to report on every medal position possibility.
We are all set for a brilliant sixteen days of quality World sport. The twenty eight different sports that make up the friendly sport are planned down to the last detail.
We remind our readers that the BBC have coverage like no other with lots of mulit-screen action accessed via; BBC1, BBC2, Freeview, Large City Screens, but best of all on freesat we can watch via multi-screen on BBC1 and BBC2 and BBC HD. For those lucky enough to own a freesat HD set top box we are being spoilt.

HUMAX FOXSAT LATEST FREESAT UPDATE.

HUMAX FOXSAT LATEST FREESAT UPDATE.

HUMAX FOXSAT LATEST UPDATE graphic shows the software being flashed to 1.00.13 from 1.00.10. The 1.00.10 we reported yesterday showed the Olympic Multi-screen but could not control them.
We find today the multi-screens from the BBC are identical to the ones from Goodmans, Bush, Grundig freesat receivers and work especially well.
Using the remote for the Humax Foxsat to change from one screen to another is slick and unlike the Goodmans, Grundig and Bush freesat set top boxes the Humax Foxsat shows a small message when you try to access part of the multi-screen which is temporary switched off.
We tried a few channels to find the lip sync problem but could find nothing this morning so we keep our fingers crossed this has been addressed.
We have found that the Humax Foxsat picture while viewing through the HDMI has improved in upscaling and nearly lost that soft picture. We find that the Humax Foxsat is very quick while changes from one multi-screen to another while watching the Olympic feeds from the BBC. We did a complete factory re-set after the software flash upgrade and the Humax Foxsat shows 105 channels.

BBC MULTI-SCREEN WIZARD.

BBC MULTI-SCREEN WIZARD.

BBC MULTI-SCREEN WIZARD from the BBC on the Goodmans GFSAT200HD freesat set top box is now switched on in preparation for the sports feast ahead from the Beijing Olympics.
The graphic shows part of the wizard screens which allow users to key in four digit multi-screen pages which in this graphic is 3001.

BBC BEIJING OLYMPICS MULTI-SCREEN DEBUT 6th AUGUST 2008.

Freesat came of age today with the first glimpses of freesat multi-screen. BBC HD will be showing a full itemised schedule from the "Opening Ceremony" on Friday the 8th of August 2008.
Humax Foxsat is first on the multi-screen scene with the red button partially working of which we hope will be complete in two days time ?
The multi-screen on freesat can be reached either by BBC1 or BBC2 and following the interactive wizard, we do understand the full multi-screen can be added via the "Extra Channels Feature", incorporated in ALL of the official freesat branded boxes.
The Humax Foxsat today shows screen number one (1) and attempting to get to another screen as directed by the open wizard shows the remote control non-responsive on our freesat receiver.
The Goodmans freesat, Bush and Grundig are still to be switched on. You can however tune in the multi-sat screens using the "Extra Channels Feature".

BBC OLYMPICS WHAT'S ON.

BBC OLYMPICS WHAT'S ON.

BBC OLYMPICS WHAT'S ON covers the first few days of the start of the Beijing Olympics what's on timetable.
Olympic armchair pundits can look and see when the expected timetable schedule is expected to be. As you read spare a thought for all of our athletes who will be competing in very hot conditions which on the opening ceremony day are expected to be around 32 Celsius or 90 Fahrenheit and add to this many will be competing when they would normally be fast asleep.
Please note; we try to make our forum as accurate as possible but there maybe times when as human beings we are infallible and can make errors and as we are also in the pool the same as all blogs for exactly the identical press releases we are not in control of these factors.

BEIJING OLYMPICS 5 DAYS TO KICK OFF.

BEIJING OLYMPICS 5 DAYS TO KICK OFF.

Only five days to go before the start of the XX1X Olympiad games. As over 20,000 members of the world media are invited we can expect news bulletins on a regular basis.
For U.K. readers it's worth remembering the European athletes will take some time to get used to the huge time difference and to acclimatize.
Beijing is approx. seven hours in front of the United Kingdom and for those into the Olympics in a big way this means for U.K. followers that the U.K. sleeps while games are going on, so the coverage will be excellent.
We have our Grundig Gufsat01HD, Bush BFSAT01HD, Goodmans GFSAT200HD and the Humax FoxsatHD all ready and waiting to be tested, the idea of multi-screen+HD is something very few are taking seriously. This is a big deal for British Television being first yet again onto ground breaking viewing.
Roll on the 8th of August...Beijing! here we come!

HUMAX FOXSATHD NOW SHOWING OVER 100 CHANNELS 1st AUGUST 2008.

Humax Foxsat freesat boxes are updated today again with some new radio channels including the much awaited Classic FM.
Our Humax Foxsat box had to be Factory Set to pick up the latest channel updates which for those users using the extra features with the Humax Foxsat it was less than ideal.
As the ITV HD has not national coverage we kept our Houses Of Parliament Postal Code in so that ITV HD (when transmitted) could be useable. The Postal Code for those who are in outside areas of the ITV HD can still use the Postal Code W1A 0AA
To view local ITV networks this can be done via any of the freesat boxes extra channels feature.
